VIINIKANLAHTI NATURAL ALLIANCE: HORIZON LINE 

On the nice Tampere, Finland, we did this beautiful set of images for Mass Lab. It was a new development area binding the lake and the city by using the shoreline, turning it into an ecological corridor. You can take a look at the complete set, where the lake is occupied in such different ways, as a pier for kayaking, a sauna or even a beach. But this specific image has the lake as background and is focused on the inner life of the residential courtyard. These blocks embrace diversity, encouraging a combination of building heights, typologies, configurations and uses. But all of them share a common space for community relationship. This space is articulated by the constant guide line that is present along the whole shoreline: the lush forest/park like greenery. So in this case, we used the light to put the focus on the vegetation, while fading the architecture, which is not so important here. This image is about mood, about how inviting and welcoming can be the courtyard for this community. We love the way it could be perceived from the top of a balcony as it gave us the chance to put it in relation with the rest of the proposal and talk about depth as well.
