KUNMING NATIONAL BOTANIC MUSEUM: RAINFOREST RIVERBED

At the city of Kunming, China, 12km away from the center of city, the Chinese office of SHL, designed this incredible National Botanical Museum, and let us be part of it. To be part of this biodiverse adventure represented an incredible opportunity for our team. The project was conceived as an integrated journey within nature and we enjoyed the trip as much as possible.

We had five biotypes to describe, so on a first phase of the process a lot of sketches came along to portrait this different entourages. Each one of them suggested us different moods, so we provided the client with a wide range from a foggy dusk situation for a tea plantation to a crispy arid one for the desert greenhouse. The scope of the project involved a subtropical rainforest, wetlands, bamboo forest, tea plantations… so it was the perfect process to work with our matte magic and a loose style. Fortunately, our friends at SHL are always opened to our different suggestions and approaches, so getting this beautiful set together was a real pleasure.
